Join us November 11 for our Landscape Lighting 101 workshop from Kichler just for professionals. Part classroom and part hands-on, the workshop will cover the basics of landscape lighting including which fixtures produce which types of light, different lighting effects and basic troubleshooting. Look for another great lighting workshop in December.

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009: PRO Dry Creek Bed Hands-On Workshop
Soil erosion is a common problem for many homeowners and commercial properties. The hilly terrain of north Georgia provides a beautiful backdrop but also causes many landscapes to be unevenly sloped. Provide your customers with an environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing solution to soil erosion and drainage problems by learning to properly install a dry creek bed.
Drainage expert Jeffrey Grestch of Mrs. Green Jeans, Inc. will lead the class through an educational seminar on the proper way to design and install a dry creek bed, covering material options, drainage issues and costs. He will also discuss the proper way to estimate and bid dry creek bed projects and lead a hands-on installation lesson. Dry creek beds are one of the simplest outdoor living projects homeowners can do themselves. Join experienced landscape contractor Jeffrey Gresch of Mrs. Green Jeans, Inc. on Aug. 15 at 10am or 2pm to learn professional tips on how to create and install a beautiful dry creek bed. Although this workshop will include a limited amount of hands-on experience that will occur in the outside showcase, the majority of the workshop will be in seminar format indoors with the A/C on. Saturday December 19th, 2009: Fireplace Festivity and Open House
Celebrate the season at our Holiday Open House Saturday, December 19 from 10am to 2pm. Sip on cider and snack on s’mores as you wander through our Outdoor Lifestyle Showcase of gorgeous retreats with visions of sugarplums and dazzling backyard fireplaces dancing in your head. Stone Forest staff members will be on hand with DIY information so you too can whip up a welcoming fire pit or fireplace in your backyard, turning the outside of your house into an inviting haven, no matter how chilly the temperatures. With a little help, a few great materials and some elbow grease, soon you’ll be roasting marshmallows and toasting to good friends in the comfort of your own backyard.

Saturday, July 24th, 2010: DIY: Build-A-Pond Day
If you’ve always wanted a water feature in your backyard, head to Stone Forest and learn how to build a pond. After digging in with a little DIY magic, imagine relaxing by the water, watching fish swim lazily in the pond you created. Come find how to create your own pond in this hands-on class taught by Stone Forest “Pond Guy,” Kelly Bors. Pond-building is the perfect summer project, so head to Stone Forest for this fun and informative class. A discount will be offered on supplies for the day of the event.

Saturday April 24th, 2010: DIY Rainwater Harvesting System Seminar
Join us on Saturday April 24th for a DIY Rainwater Harvesting seminar. Tony Sargeant with Aquatic Creations will be leading this informative and groundbreaking class. We want to do our part to conserve, reuse and recycle our natural resources and we want to teach you how can be a part of it. Learn how to properly install and use tools from 75 gallon rain barrels up to 7,500 gallon rainwater harvesting systems. This class will be part classroom and part hands-on workshop.

Wednesday April 7th, 2010: Pro Rainwater Harvesting Seminar
We are proud to announce that we will be hosting our annual Professional Rainwater Harvesting Seminar at Stone Forest. Tony Sargeant of Aquatic Creations will begin our classroom instruction by discussing the need for rainwater harvesting and how capturing and reusing rainwater will reduce water bills including storm sewer charges, alleviate demand on Municipal systems and avoid strict watering schedules. We will then move out to our outdoor classroom to review the installation procedures and see some examples of different uses of the system. Don’t worry, most of the hard work will have already been done for you! Lunch will be provided.

January 14th and 15, 2010: Go Green with Aquascape
Start your New Year learning how being green can be good for the world and good for your business.
As part of a North American tour, Aquascape offers a two-day seminar January 14 and 15 in Atlanta focused on presenting sustainable landscape solutions. The event is designed to help contractors, landscape architects, builders, engineers, city planners and conservationists network while exploring the latest technologies and marketing practices around the worldwide green movement.
On the first day, “Creating Opportunity with Sustainable Landscapes” will cover how water features can be used as solutions to environmental issues such as rainwater harvesting and stormwater management. The seminar will also cover other sustainable landscaping features including native planting, smart irrigation and permeable pavers. This day will be geared toward contractors, landscape architects, city officials and municipalities.
With a focus on contractors and their business, the second day’s seminar is “Selling, Marketing and Promoting Water Features and Your Business.” This day covers refining your marketing pitch and implementing new techniques to attract business so you can survive – and thrive – in this tough economy.
The interactive, multimedia presentation will be led by Greg Wittstock, founder and CEO of Aquascape, and Ed Beaulieu, Chief Sustainability Officer for Aquascape.
